Organisational Background
Afrihealth for Social Development and Impact (ASDI) is a non-profit organisation dedicated to promoting public health, sustainable development, and inclusive governance in Africa. Through partnerships with communities, governments, and civil society, ASDI implements programs that drive social impact and strengthen systems for long-term development, sustainability and accountability.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant fields such as Public Health, Finance, Business Administration, or Law. An advanced degree is preferred.
- Extensive experience in governance, strategic oversight, or advisory roles.
- Prior experience on boards of non-profits or health-related organisations is an advantage.
Required Skills
Trustees collectively must have skills or experience in the following areas:
- Expertise in governance, risk management, and legal oversight.
- Experience in advocacy and engagement with local, state & federal government, businesses, funders and non-government agencies
- Experience in human resource oversight and management.
Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills - Financial management and oversight, especially as it relates to non-profit organisations
- Successful track record in grant-making or resource mobilisation
- Comprehensive understanding of the socio-economic impacts of public health.
- Commitment to ethical governance and accountability.
- Ability to network and advocate on behalf of the organisation.
- Excellent communication and decision-making skills.
Required Level of Commitment
- Attend all Board meetings.
Attend Board retreats. - Be informed of ASDI’s work and programs and publicly support the organisation.
- Prepare for and participate in the discussions and the deliberations of the Board.
- Be aware of and abstain from any conflict of interest.
- Ability to represent ASDI at relevant events and build partnerships with other organisations.
- Adherence to ethical standards and safeguarding principles in line with ASDI’s mission.
Support for fostering diversity, equity and inclusion in ASDI’s work and governance.
